The Introductory Class from September 2010 is for people with some or no knowledge of Scottish Country Dancing.  This is not Ceilidh Dancing.  Dancers will be taught the basic steps, formations and simple dances in a friendly atmosphere.

Taster session - Wednesday 18th September 7:30 - 9:00 - come along and see what it is all about (no obligation!).  This will be a fun evening!

If you have never done Scottish Country Dancing before - this is the class for you!

If you did some Scottish Country Dancing at school (however long ago this was) - come along and see if you would like to start again from scratch, and then maybe move up to the Improvers, Social or Advanced Class after a few weeks if you find it all coming back to you!

What to wear?  Scottish Country Dancing can be energetic although you can put in as much or as little as you like.  We recommend that you wear layers of clothes - possibly light trousers or a full skirt, a T shirt and something on top for warming up or the slower dances.

What shoes do I wear?  Scottish Country Dancing shoes come in many guises from ballet type shoes (with a full width sole unlike proper ballet shoes) to laced soft shoes and to those with a T bar.  All proper Scottish Country Dancing shoes are very soft and comfortable, and can be bought from most dancing outlets and shops like Beggs on School Hill.  Before you buy shoes, you might prefer to come along to the class in soft soled flat shoes (trainers are ideal) and see what your teacher suggests or what others are wearing.

When do classes start?  The beginners class starts on ~Wednesday 26th September 2018 7:30 - 9:00.  If you miss the beginning of term, do come along on any Monday and give us a try!

How much does it cost?  6 for each class (11 in the first term) or if you join us and become a member (25) then it is 5 per class or 44 if you pay for the full term (12 in the second term for 48).   If you become a member, you will receive Branch Newsletters, magazines from Headquarters and be part of the local Branch activities.

Is there live music?  Yes - we have a pianist!
